Privacy and Security

1. How Secure is it when quoting or applying online?

There are 2 important security features.

1.  The first is that my site is secured with an SSL certificate which uses encryption.  You can see  when you visit, in the address bar,  that rather than the regular http, this site has https which means secure.

2. The second feature is that when you press on quote or apply, you are taken directly to the direct  Manulife internal quote and apply website system.  And Manulife’s website and servers use the best security to keep your information secure and private. 

2. Will my information remain private?

All information you input, for quotes and applying,  is directly on the secure Manulife website. You will no longer be on my site. Though you can get back to this site by pressing on the Jane Stygall logo on the upper left corner of Manulife’s site.

Any information you input into the Manulife site is treated in the strictest confidence by Manulife.  Any medical information that you enter in your application, will remain private by Manulife.  I will not have access to this personal medical information. 

3. Will I now be on a mailing or email list, or will I receive a sales call?

All the information you input is directly in the Manulife computer systems, for both quotes and applications .  Once you have applied for coverage, and been approved, I will receive your policy to be sent to you. And as your trusted broker, will have access to basic contact information and coverage details.

Rest assured, that you will not receive any sales call, or be placed on a marketing mailing list by me, unless you have requested it.

 

The Benefits of Going Through a Broker

Will my premium be higher if I go through Jane Stygall - Life Insurance Advisor, rather than direct with Manulife?

Your premium is exactly the same, whether you purchase your health insurance plan through a broker, such as myself, or directly from Manulife.

In fact you benefit from directly applying AND having a broker – by applying through this website.

When you purchase your health insurance plan through my website – you have the benefit of applying directly with Manulife, since the quote/apply buttons take you directly to the Manulife internal web application system.  And having a broker – Jane Stygall – service you.

Will there be a fee if I go through a Jane Stygall - Life Insurance Advisor, rather than direct with Manulife?

There is no fee to you.  And your premiums will be exactly the same whether you purchase your health insurance plan through me, Jane Stygall – Life Insurance Advisor or directly with Manulife.

Online Quotations

Can I lock in my premium rate by getting a quote online?

Yes.  Once you have your online quotation confirmation number, your quoted premium is locked in for 30 days.

If during this time you have a birthday age change, your premium will only be adjusted for your new age, using the rates at the time of your quotation.
In other words, if your age changed during this 30 days from age 50 – 51, your locked in premium rate will be as if you were age 51 at the time of the quote.  So if Manulife changes the overall rate structure, you still will have the previous rate structure.

So I encourage you to get your online quotation, the sooner the better, and lock in your premium rate for 30 days.

 

Choosing A Plan – Upgrading and Downgrading

Can I Upgrade my plan option in the future?

Yes.  Once you have a Flexcare or Follow Me plan in effect, you can upgrade at any time in the future.  However, you will be required to answer medical questions and qualify for the upgrade.

Can I Downgrade my plan option in the future?

Yes.  Your Flexcare or Follow Me policy must be in effect for one year before you can downgrade.

Can I cancel my policy and then apply for a new plan?

Yes.  You can cancel your policy anytime.

However, once you cancel your policy, you must wait two (2) years before applying for a new Flexcare or FollowMe policy.

Except –  if the reason for your cancellation was because you became covered by an employer group plan.  If that is the case, then there is no 2 year wait period before applying for a new Flexcare or Follow Me policy.

 

Choosing A Plan – Couples & Family Plans

If applying for coverage for more than one person, can I mix the plan choice between Guaranteed Acceptance Plans and Medical Question Plans?

Yes.  One person can have a Guaranteed Acceptance No Medical Question Plan and the other can have a Medical Questions Plan.   Even though it will be one policy, each person is considered separately for medical underwriting (or not if Guaranteed Acceptance Plan) .

 

Your Application & Policy

What information do I need with me when applying?

No Medical Question – Guaranteed Acceptance Plans

1. Your  Manulife quote confirmation number if you have had an online quote done.
2. OHIP Health Card numbers for everyone applying for coverage.
3. Date of Birth for each person being covered.
4. For the Follow Me – Leaving a Group Plan  –  Name of Insurance Company, Group Policy Number and your Certificate Number and date of termination of group benefits.  This is not required for No Medical Question Flexcare plans.
5. Credit Card Information or bank information for pre-authorized payment plans.

Medical Question Plans

All of the above (except the name of the insurance company of former group insurance plan)

For each member of the family you are insuring:
1. Physician’s names and telephone numbers
2. Names of any prescription medications being taken.
3. Driver’s licence number

There is no medical exam or testing.  Simply answer the questions in the questionnaire.
You may be contacted via email, phone or regular mail for any additional information or clarification of your answers.

I am currently undergoing medical tests. Does that affect my Medical Question Application?

For a Guaranteed Acceptance Plan, currently undergoing testing or medical investigations does not affect your application.

For Medical Question Plans – you cannot apply for Medical Question Plans while undergoing testing or medical investigations. So consider applying for a Guaranteed Acceptance Plan and upgrading to a Medical Question Plan once you have received your results and/or a diagnosis.

While completing the application online, what if I cannot complete it all at once?

Not to worry.  After entering your quote or application confirmation number,(they are the same number), you can stop and start answering the questions. The Manulife internal system will save what you have inputted for 30 days from the date you started.  So if you need to get information, or confirm an answer with your doctor’s office, the Manulife internal system will have saved whatever you have entered to that point.

When returning , just enter your quote or application confirmation number again.

So you can stop and start within the 30 days.

When do I pay my first premium?

When applying, you will be required to pay the first 2 months premium.   Premiums after that are monthly.  You can use credit cards or banking information.

If you decide not to proceed, you will receive a full refund of premiums.
Once you receive your policy, you can return your policy within 30 days and receive a full refund of premiums.

I have submitted my application, what happens now?

No Medical Questions – Guaranteed Acceptance Plans
You will receive an email from Manulife confirming receipt of your application.
And providing you with your unique Plan Number & ID Number.
Your policy  will be issued within 2 business days and mailed to you within 5 business days.
And your policy will be effective, with coverage starting, the lst day of the following month.

Medical Question Plans
You will receive an email from Manulife confirming receipt of your application.

Over the next 4-6 weeks  your application will be reviewed by the Manulife underwriting dept.
You will then receive a confirmation that either your application for a policy has been approved as applied for, or with modifications, or not accepted.  If not accepted, then you will be offered a Guaranteed Acceptance Plan – No Medical Questions Plan.

You can decide how you would like to proceed.
Should you decide that you would like to proceed
1.  You would sign a confirmation that you accept any modifications, within 30 days of receiving notice of the modification.
2.  Your policy will be delivered to you within a few business days.

Should you decide that you do not wish to proceed, you will be eligible for a full refund within 30 days, provided you have not made any claims.

What will I receive with my policy package?

You will receive:

Summary Information Page – outlining your personal coverage details.
A Prescription Drug card – if prescription drugs are part of your chosen plan.
A Health Plan Schedule of Benefits
Health Services Navigator Certificate
Extended Health Claim Form (which you can photocopy)
Health Plan Policy
Information Handbook – a complete guide to how to make claims, administration changes and more.

Dental Claims are generally done electronically from your dentist’s office.  If that is not available, you can always visit my Admin & Claims Form Tab for a dental form.

Renewal of Your Policy

Will I have to re-apply every year to renew my policy?

Once your policy is effective, it will renew automatically each year. Therefore, any changes in your health during the course of the year will not affect your policy.

If I have a lot of claims, will my premium increase?

Your premium will not increase as a result of your claims. Very small premium increases generally occur once a year, and they are for the overall plan rates. The other premium change would be when you change age category.

Is there a money back guarantee?

Yes.  If you are not completely satisfied, you can return your policy within 30 days for a full refund of your premiums paid, provided you have not made any claims.
